Losing Weight With Self-Mastery : An Update
Insights January 2004

Since my previous articles on this subject, I've progressed with my personal work and I have some things to share.
When I started teaching the most recent Mind Over Weight Workshop I thought it was a good time to get back to doing this work for myself. I began with campfire work, described in a previous article, but the pounds weren't leaving. This was frustrating, since the work was clearly happening. I discovered a very simple thing that demonstrates how clear we have to be when working with the subconscious. I had been working on being a naturally slim person - somewhere along the way I've become slim. As soon as I realized that, I changed it to 'slimmer' and dropped seven pounds in two days. (It was very quick because the the work had built up.) It was quite a revelation to discover how literal the subconscious mind can be.

So I decided I needed a clearer goal. I'd gone from a size 20 to a size 10 with my work. I knew I had a real mental barrier about going to a single-digit size, so I decided to work on being a size 6 - something I can't even imagine.
Again, nothing seemed to be happening. Then, one of my dear friends pointed out that my jeans needed replacing, since I could hold two inches of fabric at the thigh. I went shopping. To my complete and utter amazement, I am now wearing a size 6 jean. I am still in shock about this. I bought two pairs, and wore one of them home, with the bottoms rolled up so they wouldn't drag on the ground. I am a size 6. This is incomprehensible.

Obviously, the reason the work wasn't shifting things was because I wasn't able to realize the goal was reached. I had to come up with a new goal. Although I'm still in shock about the size 6, I have derived the new goal: My body is idealistic. That means it's ideal beyond expectation, beyond what I can imagine. I wonder what that looks like? I'm going to find out.

Through my work, I'm aware that people can't see beyond a certain point because of their blocks and mental limitations. This has been clearly demonstrated for me with these events, and I remind you and I both to frame your goals without limitation. To dream big. Never settle: life can be better, it can be more, and it can be beyond your wildest dreams.

Have a look at your intentions and your goals. Reframe them so that they're free of limitations. Go for it!
